PCN/EOL support
Long product life cycles: legacy production maintained, updated alternatives provided.
To support long product life cycles, Engicam maintains production of legacy products while providing updated, cost-efficient alternatives when needed. Customers are notified in advance of any change affecting form, fit, or function.
PRODUCT/PROCESS CHANGE NOTIFICATION (PCN)
What triggers a PCN
-
Component substitution (alternate part, alternate manufacturer) where form, fit, or function is affected
-
Manufacturing site or process changes at Engicam or at a component supplier
-
Firmware or BIOS revisions bundled with a hardware change
-
Material or supplier changes affecting compliance (e.g. RoHS, REACH)
-
Packaging or labeling changes required by a component manufacturer
Each PCN identifies the affected part number(s), describes the nature of the change, and states the last-order and last-shipment dates where applicable. Where relevant, form-fit-function impact is assessed and communicated together with the notice.
Lead time PCNs are issued with advance notice ahead of implementation, in line with standard industry practice, to allow customers time to qualify the change or place last-time-buy orders.
END OF LIFE NOTIFICATION (EOL)
If a component of a card or system is declared obsolete by its manufacturer with no market alternative, Engicam issues an End-of-Life notice for the affected products.
Notification content: An EOL notice specifies the affected product(s), the reason for discontinuation, the last-order date, and the last-shipment date. Where a drop-in or qualified alternative exists, it is indicated in the same notice.
Last-time-buy Customers are given a defined window to place last-time-buy orders before production ends, sized to allow for typical inventory planning cycles.
